A pediatrician plays a crucial role in the life of your child. Trust me, s/he’s the only one you will think of almost every hour once you have the baby in your arms. To add to the dilemma, you will have your own reasons as to why you like or don’t like your child’s doctor. To help you choose, we did a quick poll with mums and compiled a list of the best pediatricians in Bangalore.  

1. Dr Arvind Shenoi 

Qualifications/Work Experience: Dr. Arvind Shenoi has had extensive work experience being a noted Neonatologist and Paediatrician. Dr. Shenoi has also been involved in teaching pediatrics to postgraduate students.

Momstar review: “From the time my son was born at Cloudnine – Old Airport Road he has been under the care of Dr. Arvind Shenoi. He is very experienced and listens to you very calmly. His small tips with baby food and baby sleeping habits have helped me a lot. He has a long waiting time for his appointments so it’s best to take one in advance. Definitely a highly recommended pediatrician” says Momstar Sugandh Bhatnagar. 

2. Dr Anand Prahalad Rao

Qualifications: MBBS, MD – Paediatrics, DNB (Paediatrics), Fellowship in Paediatric Rheumatology. 

Work experience: Dr. Anand is Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Pediatric Rheumatology and 14 years of  extensive experience. He is an astute clinician with a keen eye capable enough to solve the most intricate paediatric and Paediatric rheumatological issues. 

MomStar review: “I have been consulting Dr. Anand for the past 3 years for my daughter. I would highly recommend him. Appointments are easy, through a phone call. He’s available from Monday to Saturday, Sunday is off. He can be consulted in the morning as well as evening. Fees have been increased, currently it’s 500, might be a concern for some parents. But he doesn’t prescribe unnecessary medicine. He answers all questions and queries patiently. He gives ample time to each patient. We never felt any need to go to any other doctor till now” quips Momstar Tabassum Ansari. 
  

3. Dr Venugopal Deshpande

Qualifications: MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), DNB. 

Work Experience: Dr. Venugopal Deshpande has around 11 years of extensive experience in this field. He is also a member of Bangalore Pediatric Society and Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP).

MomStar review: “I have been visiting this doctor for my child’s vaccinations since her birth. He is very friendly and reachable whenever necessary. He doesn’t prescribe antibiotics if it’s treatable with mild medicine” says MomStar Shwetha P.

4. Dr. A. Nagesh

Qualifications: MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), DNB. 

Work Experience: Dr. A Nagesh has an experience of 26 years in this field. He is a member of Indian Academic Paediatrics, Bangalore Paediatric Society and National Neonatology Forum (NNF). 

MomStar Review: I personally had consulted Dr Nagesh twice as a substitute doctor when my regular doctor wasn’t available. I found him to be quite friendly and warm, his diagnosis was good. Though the waiting time is too long and at times it may even extend to 11.00 pm in the night on days where there are too many patients.

5. Dr S G Kasi

Qualifications: MBBS, MD, DCH. 

Work Experience: Dr Kasi, besides being a dedicated physician, is also known for being a diligent medical scholar and has published many articles in many reputed medical journals.

Momstar review: After I changed 3 Paediatricians when my daughter was born; because I wasn’t satisfied with any of their advice or remedies. I was happy to meet Dr. Kasi, he is a no-nonsense Doctor, very flexible in his outlook and tries to understand the issues from our side as well. He is always warm and friendly with my daughter. Though there are few times he may not be available since he attends conferences in the weekend, but there’s always a substitute doctor available. He’s definitely a good choice for us. 

6. Dr Sanjay Gururaj

Qualifications: MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), DNB (Paediatrics)

Work Experience: Dr. Sanjay Gururaj has over 15 years of experience as a Pediatrician and Neonatologist. According to him, the main goal of medicine is to alleviate sickness in human beings through proper diagnosis and treatment.

MomStar Review: “A very efficient doctor. Not only kids but young and the old also see him. One of the best people I have met. Been seeing him for my daughter for the last 3 years. AMAZING MUST SAY. He never puts kids on Antibiotics unless the situation worsens. Prescribes only mild medication and quick recovery. He makes the kids very comfortable” says Momstar Shweta Ganesh. 

7. Dr Girish SV

Qualifications: MBBS, MRCPCH (UK). 

Work experience: Backed by an experience of 23 years, Dr Girish SV has also specialized in neonatology with more than 8 years of extensive training and experience in Neonatal Intensive care at Bristol UK.  

MomStar review: “Many parents choose doctors nearby to their place, but I travel from Ramamurthy nagar to Jayanagar to consult Dr Girish because I trust him completely” says Momstar Ronita Sachdev.

8. Dr Deepti T Nair

Qualifications: MBBS, M.Sc – Physiology. 

Work Experience: Some of her areas of specialization include: Child Growth Management, Genetic Disorders, Newborn Jaundice etc.

Whatever stupid questions we might have, she guides us on everything about our little one right from his milk to development. 9. Dr Aruna Divakar 

 Qualifications: MBBS, DNB (Paediatrics), Fellowship in Neonatology

Work experience: Dr Aruna Divakar has gained immense experience over the course of her long and fruitful career. She also holds a Fellowship in Neonatology and is equally capable of treating newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects as well as stabilizing newborns with life-threatening critical conditions.

Though I couldn’t get my kids’ regular check-ups done by him earlier, as he is available in mornings only during weekdays in Manipal, but now I consult him in his clinic. 11. Dr Jagadish Chinnappa

Qualifications: MBBS , MD – Paediatrics. 

Work Experience: Dr. Jagdish Chinnappa is a paediatric consultant of high calibre, with several years of experience. He is known for his quick and accurate diagnosis in children.

“This doc is known to my family for 30 years. My brother-in-law was under his care for many years and has heard very good positive feedback. Though personally, I haven’t consulted him due to the distance but have heard very good feedback from friends. I would give him 5 stars” says Momstar Lakshmi Iyengar. 

12. Dr Phani Bhushan

Qualifications: MBBS , Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MRCPCH, MBA

Work Experience: Dr Phani Bhushan has 18 years’ experience in this field and is a very reliable doctor.
