Picture books are an important source of new language, and lessons for young children.

It nurtures the parent-child interaction by reading to them.

Reading and storytelling with your child promotes brain development and imagination.

It teaches your child about various emotions.

It helps your child’s brain, social skills and communication skills develop

Reading isn’t the only way to help with your child’s language and development,

Telling stories, singing songs and singing rhymes are also great activities for early literacy skills and your child will probably have a lot of fun at the same time.

Sometimes your child might enjoy these activities more than reading.

Try atleast one book a day so that the baby can get use to it as well as enjoy the other characters too.

Try out funny noises and sounds, play and have lots of fun.

Involve your baby too in the story telling

Tell him/her that he/she is some character of the book. This way they will enjoy as well as learn.

Most importantly Turn off the TV or radio, and find a quiet place to read so your child can hear your voice and can concentrate in the activity.

There are many books available in the markets and online

You can go for cloth books or hard cover books so that baby's dont tear the pages and will be very easy for them to grab.
