Sometimes I feel I had more flatter tummy in the 6th month of pregnancy than I had 6 months postpartum!!
Yes, because before pregnancy I haven't really eaten kilos of home made ghee or bedridden for 40 days or something like that!!!;
I have heard of so many myths about my not-so-big tummy during that period, I would get really worried about baby's health and his weight!!
But then my doctor explained me that the size of my belly has very less to do with the health and weight of the baby!!!
Except some physical health problems as gestational diabetes, or any issue related to more or less amniotic fluid, I think some of the factors would be like:
💞First time mom
Your tummy is going to be SMALLER one.
If you are a first time mother, then obviously you don't show much tummy.
As your muscles are pretty much tight n lean before pregnancy.
The more Children you have, your muscles becomes more relaxed.
If mother and father are having an average or a lean physique, then it's pretty much obvious that baby is going to be of an average frame, Which means your bump wouldn't be expanding much..And vice versa!!
If you are tall your baby likely to have more space to grow and it will grow vertically upwards than side wise.
Resulting in a small looking tummy.
If you are short, then baby bump would be growing to sidewise, making your tummy look even bigger.
Your bump size also depends on baby's position.
If it's in Your belly will change shape and size depending on the position your baby is in. For example, if she is in posterior position, then you likely to have less tummy.
So obvious!!; If you or your baby are producing plenty of fluid, your belly might alter in shape or size.
Ok.. somewhere is affects your bump size!!
If baby is bigger then bump will look bigger, but bigger doesn't mean healthy!!
When your bump is not looking bigger and you can't really feel the movement much, then the size of the baby bump might matters!!!
Everybody carries differently; if your doctor is concerned she'll send you for an ultrasound to check growth. You just can't compare yourself with other mothers. If everything is fine and baby is growing well 'according to your doctor' then please enjoy your pregnancy without worrying about the size of your bump and wish them luck who try to find out gender based on it's size!!!
