Today, I am gonna talk about proteins and their effects on our body.
Why do we actually need to eat proteins and why it is necessary to eat proteins and carbohydrates together?
Proteins are very important macronutrient required by our body. It works as fuel for our body. We all have ideas that proteins are very important nutrient for our body and without it our body can not build muscles. People who go to gym might have some knowledge that proteins are like building blocks in our body.
But proteins give us energy when needed by our body. 1 gram of protein gives 4 kcal same as Carbohydrates. But we can't exchange carbohydrates with proteins. Why?
I will explain it later.
Now, the question is how many types of proteins are there?
So, as you should know that our body need proteins in the form of 20 amino acid. These amino acids can be formed by our body but some of them can not be made by our body so we have to consume them in the form of food.
So, there are 2 types of amino acid:-
1. Essential amino acid.
2. Non- Essential amino acid.
ESSENTIAL AMINO ACID can not be made by our body we have to eat food. There are 9 types of essential amino acid. But still it is not very simple as you should know that proteins in animal foods are much more easily available or you can say that meat, seafood, eggs and dairy products are the main sources of proteins. They can fulfill your daily requirements of all 9 amino acid.
You can eat legumes and beans, nuts or other plant based vegetable but they will lack one or two essential amino acid in them.
So, if you are a vegetarian then it may be beneficial for you to include variety of nuts, legumes, beans and plant based vegetables and fruits in your diet. Also remember to eat them together or one thing at some time of day.
Let me also give you example for that
Combination of Rice and Moong dal (or any dal) along with some nuts is a good combination to actually meet the daily requirements of proteins. You can have dal in afternoon and Rice in evening or vice-versa. As long as you are eating them Between 24 hours in a day.
NON-ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS can be made by our body and contains 11 amino acids. See now you don't have to worry about doing all the work. Your body has made it very easy for you. Your work is there to provide only 9 amino acids and your body can provide the rest. Simple!
So, It is very important to know about your daily allowed dietary requirements of proteins. You should also know that our meal should contain 30% of proteins, 40% of Carbohydrates and 30% of fats.
Now, some people might be wondering why should we eat more carbohydrates and less proteins?
This should be clear that Carbohydrates main work is there to provide you with the energy that is required and by eating the required amount of Carbs you are actually allowing the proteins to do it's alloted work and not to go and abandon it's own work to help it's fellow worker.
While Carbs are giving our body energy, proteins are using that energy to build our strong body muscles to do any physical activity without any problems.
Know that everything god has made is to provide your body energy and required nutrients. God has given us so many options to choose from. We just have to open our eyes and not think about calories and actually conectarte on eating more healthy food. Nothing nature has given us bad, but what actually bad is the things we have made because of our own greed and selfishness that are making us sick and to live with full of diseases.
