When Shaarav was born nobody told us to expose him to the early morning sun. As a result he had jaundice. The whites of his eyes turned yellow seeing which I got terribly frightened. The later he was handed to me the sooner he was taken away. He was being kept in an incubator under blue lights for phototherapy which was 2 floors down from the recovery room and no elevator. In spite of my cesarian stitches I had to visit him in the nursery every hour to check on him, to feed and change him. I had to climb up and down 2 floors to see him, and though walking helped in faster healing of the stitches it hurt badly at the time.
In three days' time, the bilirubin levels came down to a safe level and we were discharged from the hospital and asked to keep taking him out in the sun. But to check if the bilirubin levels were not rising again we decided to have a blood work done. I couldn't bare to watch Shaarav get pricked with needles so this #SuperDad took it up to himself while I decided to watch from a distance. But as soon as he was pricked the first time I started to cry profusely and was taken away from the scene. The paramedic that came home to take his blood didn't have experience with babies. He was unable to find the veins in Shaarav's tiny little arm despite 3 attempts. 😱😱 😱 Can you imagine? He was crying badly and his cries were tearing me apart which could be heard from quite the distance. But Little Shaarav held on to his Dad's finger all the while as if asking him to save him from the torture and Mr. Husband kept trying his best to calm him down. Mr. Husband says that was the moment when he really felt like a Dad. #thedefiningmoment
We finally called it quits and refused to get the blood test done keeping faith in the higher power and praying for the best. But Mr. Husband Kartik Kujur has been this unwaiverng and unfaltering support system we can always rely on. #raisingshaarav #cloudandsunshine #dotingdaddy #shaaravsaga #shaaravdiaries #dadstories #dadtales #handsondad #myhandsomeboys #myboys
