All about feeding bottles

When you have to feed your baby using a feeding bottle, there might pop up few doubts, through this post Iam trying to clear your doubts regarding feeding bottles. If I have missed out any point please ask through comments

Is bottle feeding good for your baby?
Health experts believe breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. But breastfeeding may not be possible for all women. For moms who can't breastfeed or who decide not to,formula is a healthy alternative. Formula provides babies with the nutrients they need to grow and thrive.

How many months can you use a feeding bottle?
I replaced them every four to six months. If you use BPA free bottles, make sure you dispose it after six months, or as mentioned on the packaging box. If you use non-BPA free ones, change it within three months.

What does BPA free bottle means?
BPA stands for bisphenol A. BPA is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store
food and beverages, such as water bottles.
The problem with BPA is that it can reach from containers into beverages and foods and pose a potential health risk.

Does bottle feeding causes colic in babies?
After all these years, doctors and researchers still have no definite answer to what causes these long crying bouts in some babies. But it's said that bottle fed babies are more colic.

Which is the best feeding bottle?
I would suggest Dr. Brown's feeding bottle as it is said as it reduces colic and burping in babies.

What are the different material of feeding bottles available?
To the best of my knowledge, feeding bottles are available in plastic, stainless steel and glass.
I would suggest glass feeding bottles as that's what i used for Yaachu. It's easy to clean and sterilise even though you have to be lill careful while handling as there's a chance of breaking.
Even though there are BPA free bottles available, i personally don't like plastic bottles and used glass, which i think is more safer for babies.

How many bottles would you need?
The number of bottles you'll need can range from about 2 to 6, depending on whether you'll primarily be bottle-feeding or breastfeeding. Start with 4-ounce bottles. They're perfect for the small amounts of breast milk or formula newborns eat in one sitting.

How to clean feeding bottle?
As soon as possible after your baby finishes a feed, wash the bottle, teat and lid in hot soapy water.
To wash by hand, don't wash them directly in the sink; use a clean basin or container. Pour hot, soapy water into bottles; rotate a baby bottle brush inside until the bottle is clean; wash all caps and utensils; and wash away all soapy water under running water. Use a nipple brush to wash nipples and nipple holes.

Is it necessary to sterilise bottles?
Yes it is. Atleast once in a while. Use a steriliser to sterilise your bottle and don't boil your plastic bottle in a container as it is not safe to boil plastic bottles.
I used to boil my baby's glass bottles once in a week.

Steriliser

@616e63d246822a001363f08e no it’s not safe to boil plastic bottles. You can sterilise it using a steriliser. If you don’t have steriliser, then just shake the bottle with hot water, but don’t boil. Better you buy stainless steel Sippy cup. You can have an eye on my article on weaning products by following my hashtag #yaachustories . Hope it helps
