Am cousin sis in law called this morning and let me know that she has put her 1.9 year old into playschool. And to top it all, the fees and package she flaunted was extorbitant to me. I understand that early education and development are correlated and there is no way parents could compromise but is it worth spending lakhs only to get your child into branded playschools? During our childhoods,; we were all into convents or traditional schools and we've mostly done well. But for our kids, why do we chase dreams that come laced with pressure.; The pressure is not monetary. The pressure comes in coping up. Plan your child's future yes but only to a point that you and the baby can cope up. What we forget is the art of coping up and being pragmatic. All that glitters ain't gold. What are your thoughts? #kolkatatmoms#education#playschools#parenting

Point taken. Somewhere we need to find better resources and educate our children more than just stuff them with glamorous below average curriculum. I feel, good schools will charge money yes, but even then, mediocre schools that charge without reason need to be boycotted.

Yes..but if the parents are satisfied with the kind of exposure the kids get then it is fine..and in any case I cannot question someone else's decision to send their kids to some flashy school..I am just responsible for mine..:)

But its not always worth it--the branded business packages. Affordability cannot negate priority based affordability I feel.

I think It is completely a parents choice..If they are comfortable with the kind of fees the school demands, then good..if not then there is always other options..I agree that the decision should not be solely based on monetary issues..parents always want the best for their kids..and they have complete right to choose for them..I guess To each his own!
