question
As someone who is consciously making the shift to living a green life, one of the major shifts I did was switching to a menstrual cup. It's been close to 3 years since I made that move and there's been no looking back. I did my small bit to not contribute a landfill. I am a part of groups where women debate whether they need to move to a menstrual cup or not. How many of you here use the cup?

Menstrual cup is made of silicon so is it not harmful for the private part. As much as I aware silicone bra are harmful fir the breast so why not this. Also, will it be painful when inserted.
After 8 hours when we have to clean will it seem yuck or unhygienic. In case of pads we only need to throw them.

Maybe you'll get your answers. 😊
cloth pads are wonderful as well because they are long lasting and durable and don't cause a landfill. I just find the cleaning of a cup easier. but you've given me an idea for a post.

I also want to know how different is a cup as compared to pads made of natural materials. Interestingly there's an article on BabyChakra about this - 10 reasons to Green Your Periods . I want to make this shift but not sure which one to go for...

@AditiManja - You can use the menstrual cup anytime. It does not matter how heavy or light the flow is. Please refer to these posts that I have written on my blog as well as Elephant Journal 1 http://pratsmusings.com/reasons-to-use-a-menstrual-cup/ - Why you need to use the menstrual cup. 2. https://www.elephantjournal.com/2017/05/ready-to-make-the-switch-6-menstrual-cup-hacks-you-need-to-know/ - Menstrual hacks you need to know. This is all about FAQ's on the cup. I recommend the silky or the diva cup. You can view the entire range here: http://bit.ly/Menstrual_Cups. I hope this helps you. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any more doubts.
