Anamika, dear,first if all Relax! I would say,just avoid nipple shield and try to put major portion of aerola in babys mouth. You will have to get somebody to help you out initially. In my case nurses helped for 3 days and then slowly i learnt the latching technique. In my case nipple was too big for my baby. Its okay! We all have certain issues. At first the milk is always few drops and then once the baby starts suckling,milk will automatically come to fill her tummy. Take her in a comfortable position,i recommend,two pillows on ur lap, then support head on a cushion and from one hand support baby back in a cradle hold and from the other hand keep holding the aerola in her mouth. You will have to sustain this for a week before your little one gets used to of eating. Its okay to pump but dont give bottle this early,feed through cup and spoon and burp after 3 spoons of milk. At this age their tummy is too small and can be filled up and emptied very quickly. All the best and let us know how it worked. Do consult a lactation expert for a one on one session for better results! Eat well,drink lots of water. And enjoi feeding..

My friend used silicon nipples only for 1 week and then her baby started to suck properly from breast.
