Let me explain u @616d062ac1b4770013bc727e .lndians consider earth as mother n moon is nearest to earth like brother to sister. Moon is considered brother to earth making him maternal uncle for us that is mama.Same Lori as told by @616d8f175988200013dc7948

Elders used to say that their is a grandma in moon. she is sitting there under a tree and frying vada. This i believed it as true for so many years. Even when I see the moon, the holes in the moon seem to be depicting this. So many lovely incidents pouring into my mind when I think of moon. There is a function called chitra pournami. I think it is mostly celebrated in tamilnadu. This festival is praying for chitra Gupta who is holding records of our good and bad deeds. On this day my mom used to prepare 5 to 7 variety rice. we are supposed to eat it in the moon light. It will be like a get together. Enjoying and chit chatting in the terrace of my house. All my cousins will be invited to my house when we were young. Thanks for bringing up this topic.
