FEVER IN INFANTS🤒
When ur child’s body temperature is at or above 100°F,ur baby is down with fever, making them cranky & irritable.Never ever ignore a fever condition in ur baby. Without even a slightest of hesitation always keep ur paediatrician informed. Fever may sound harmless but it can be dangerous n sometimes fatal if not medically treated;it can get on the brain, causing Seizures/Epilepsy (fever fits) & may cause many damages.
*The first thing todo is immediately give your baby paracetamol (CALPOL) drops every 5 hours
*Sponge your baby with tap water,as water evaporates from skin, the temperature comes down
*Do not over dress with layers of warm clothes, keep ur baby in comfortable clothes.
*Do not cover with layers of blankets.Overheating only worsens the fever
*Never skip bathing, it will only spread more bacteria causing infection,be clean n hygienic
*Fever causes dehydration, give lots of fluids like water, juices & soups, do not force to eat
*Fever causes joints pain, ur baby may not be able to tell u this, dry massage their feet, calf, shoulder, neck
*If ur baby is refusing food/drink, vomiting, shivering/chills immediately rush to the doctor
PS: Above all, fever makes ur baby fussy n irritable, they would want to cling u hug u & cry all the time,be patient do not panic, give them all the attention n love n hugs n kisses, make them feel loved n secure, tell them you are there all the time.Put on their fav rhymes, dance, make funny faces & laugh. Remember there are never bad parents, but there can be unknowingly happening not so good parenting.
