#ganeshchaturthi Is one of the most #resplendent festivals celebrated in India, #lordganesha (the god of health, wealth, luck, intelligence, patience & wit) is welcomed at our place in the form of an #idol Most of us know the #mythology behind celebrating this festival, so no bragging more on my #hinduism knowledge But do you know that it was Shri #balgangadhartilak
(#aka The father of Indian Unrest) who transformed this festival from a household event to a #galaevent
He felt there was a need to unite Indians more & realised nothing can bond people more than a common idol, equally worshipped by all He noticed that Lord Ganesh was considered "the God for everyman"
,was worshipped by the members belonging to the upper castes and lower castes alike, leaders and followers alike
So large #pandal were set up where people from all communities could meet and mindset of people could be shaken to fight for #swaraj and #independentindia
This festival is not just a festival to celebrate our rich culture & tradition, but it also brings feeling of nationalism, patriotism, that we are one, #Indiansabovecaste Do you celebrate ganeshutsav, pls share your stories too!
This is our Ganesh ji #sthapana day pic with the pandal hubby & I made in 3 hours!
