Hello dears, My babies are one week old, since they are preterm there weight is only 2kgs each. One has latching issue, but doctor has advised not to breastfeed more then 20 minutes as they are weak and can't work hard.
Problem is how to make my baby who can't latch to make him latch and feed properly.

Urmila, loads if love to you gal,u have twins? Try putting your nipple along with aerola in their mouth and hold it there till you see they have latched, initially they dont know how to suckle or latch, everytime you feed, you will have to hold the aerola in their mouth. And as rebecca said,be comfortable, if not pregnancy pillow, put some pillows on lap and hold baby in a comfortable position while u make them latch. My best friend had similar case, where her twins were underweight and had latching issues ( they will eventually learn), or you can try expressing milk and feeding with katori chammach as they are weak,if they work hard to suckle,it will further reduce their weight. So u have to work hard instead they working hard to latch, all the best!
