Let's talk about summer skin issues in children...
1. Miliaria commonly called as Prickly heat - Reaction of the skin towards hot weather and sweat. 2. Impetigo or heat boils - tiny blisters with secondary infection , grows fast due to scratching. 3. Hand's feets and mouth disease - viral in origin, major site of occurrence is as the name suggests. 4. Hyperhydrosis - excessive sweating on palms and soles. 5. Tinea commonly known as fungal infection - circular ,red and itchy lesion. Mainly found on the sites of sweat. 6. Polymorphus light Eruption- sunburn or allergic reaction to sun exposure. So.... these are some commonly skin complaints in my office during summer in children....
Let's talk about some basic solutions now ... 1. Keep your little one hydrated.
Offer more water during daytime. 2. Make a habit to use handkerchief or
Cap. Avoid direct exposure to sun. 3. Apply sunscreen 30 mins before
Leaving home. 4. Oil massage can be given 30 mins before bathing 5. Bath twice a day. 6. Don't use hot water for bath. 7. Post bathing, always pat dry your baby’s skin with a towel and moisturise thoroughly. Moisturize frequently 8. Use antifungal powder on body. 9. Use cotton or breathable clothes during summer. 10. Change diapers after 3 to 4 hours. With this simple tricks you can say bye bye to the summer....
