quickly and in greater quantity. this leads to absorption of more food. hence the type of food a lady eats while pregnant increases their chances of gestational diabetes. This if not reversed properly then it might lead to type 2 diabetes which is common in a lot of moms these days.
keeping in mind such issues some moms would also need a particular type of detoxification dietary regimen which needs to be done before getting into a weight loss diet.
But as I mentioned in the beginning it is important for the health of the child that you do not reduce your food intake till you are breastfeeding your child.
hope this answer helps you.
cheers

Hi Deepti,
The reduction of the bulging stomach and the excess weight gained depends entirely on your efforts you take towards diet and lifestyle. The important thing to remember here is that you should not aim at reducing your weight immediately. In fact till the time you are breastfeeding your child as that will have an impact on the quality of nutrition your child gets. As you know the weight reduction definitely demands that you refrain from eating certain types if foods and also reduce the intake if carbs and fats to an extent. Also at this stage you may not be in a position to actively involve in exercise. Fats are especially very important for children. Fat is the main nutrients which builds the brain and the nervous system, the cell membranes, the protective layer around the organs. The fact spoken by mist nutritionist that fat is bad is no more true as per science also. The quality of fat is more important. The worst is the fat catabolized by thr body from sugars. so it is best to avoid sugary foods at any stage of time. But focus a lot if good fats and whole grains like cereals etc for good carbs.
Reducing this weight and the tummy won't be very difficult after the feeding period also.
If you have already passed the feeding period then you can start slowly with the dietary regimen and the exercise you are comfortable with. This is not a standard again. Some moms suffer from gestational diabetes (Almost 10% in India) while others dont. Some develop complications like Hemmarrhoids, some face other issues. the diet and lifestyle has to be planned keeping all these factors in mind. there is no one size fits all.
some things which can be done to help you heal faster, loose weight, get your body toned up are:
1. Eat lot if vegetables. Coloured vegetables, roots and tubers, leafy vegetables. These can be in the form of juices, soups, chutneys, boiled, grilled, cooked etc. Salads are good if you do not suffer from hypo Thyroid problems.
2. Drink a lot of water
3. Avoid refined carbs
4. avoid fried foods
5. avoid packaged products
6. avoid milk products
these are some advice which most people can follow. But as I already said, it needs some pretty evaluation of the person.
one very interesting thing is that the body changes during pregnancy. the hormone insulin is very high during those periods which makes the weight gain possible. also the gut micribiobata i.e. the bacteria in the intestine change in a manner that they digest food more
