Hi all, I am blessed with a baby girl on 4th Jan.. she is having jaundice with 12.4 bilirubin count. For last 2 days she is not pooping out, and doctor also said that as much as she will poop out and passes urine the jaundice will be cured; as I am a new mom I am little bit worry about it.. please help me ....
My baby also had jaundice at 4th day with 16.6 bilrubin so kept 1 day in NICU for phototherapy.. so don't worry it's in normal range .. but keep the baby in mild sunlight so it will clear easily..

Dear Meenakshi, below 14 bilrubin is usually fine,its very mild of jaundice which gets cured if you keep baby in sun for 1 hour morning before 9 am and in the evening post 4 pm. My gal had 21 for which she was kept in nicu for phototherapy and in 3 days her bilrubin was controlled to 11. Please continue to breastfeed the baby,it works wonder to cure any ailment in new borns,if she is having enuf breastmilk,she will pee and poop also. Poop can be once in 5 days as well. Has she passed all the meconium (black tarry poop in the initial days of newborn) ?All the best!
