Try asking many questions. Also read to him and ask him questions from the book.

Hi few words means what all words? He should be able to speak 1 liners atleast eg: Mumma come here or I want that etc in your language.

He speaks few words then should not be an issue... Gradually he will learn.. encourage speaking and also play rhymes..
