Hi all.. I've got 45 day old son and I've got shallow latch problems...I can't breastfeed coz of that...I've got severe pain while feeding and post that..n on applying ointment it burns and severe pain.. also my nipples become white after feeding..pls help...

To encourage baby to open his mouth wide firstly baby should be in a comfortable position and also tucked close to the mother. Don't worry about the nose. Once the baby has latched encourage the mouth to open wider but applying pressure on the chin and upper jaw with your fingers. You can also sandwich the breast with your fingers so that the latch becomes deeper. Once the baby has finished feeding apply a warm compress to the nipple and allow it to air dry before you apply ointment.
