question
Hi... My baby is 1 week old and it's not laching. So I'm currently using breast pump to express milk and I'm able to express only 40 to 50 ml of milk only from left breast as my right one has become hard and I have used hot patch, hot water bag and all but none of them helped. Is it OK if I express milk from only one breast?  And also if I'm using breast pump will it reduce the milk quantity?  Please help.

Please express from both sides. The breast being hard indicates that there is milk but is not coming out. Use the hot compresses and massage and then express. In the short run using a breast pump will Stimulate and hence increase the milk supply but long term use and constantly expressing which is post six to seven months you can expect the supply to reduce.

Plz try not to pump or breastfeed from just one side... There would be a difference in size for sure... <br> Also I would highly recommend u to meet a lactation consultant regarding the latching issue...
