Hi .. my lo is 2months old .. paed has said that he has developed hernia and need to go for a surgery .. how common is this to have hernia in a preterm baby and what is the risk associated with it ?? Dr said that we can go for surgery only when he will weigh 10kg .. @Dr Shilpitha Singh

Inguinal hernia is more common in preterms amd boys,,, dont worry a small repairing is done by opening sac.. ensure to check with a good paedeatric surgeon or urologist..

Most probably umbilical hernia will get fixed with in a year,,,, if not then correction is done through a surgery.. dont worry.. still he is 2 months old.. wait for 10 more months and again discuss with doctor
