It takes patience ....They should be able to give cues ...Ideally my son started giving cues around 18to 20 months so I waited until this time. Be consistent and tell them they need to pee in the bathroom evey now and then,once they start talking the reciprocation is better. Every hour take the kid to the loo initially then once they are comfortable telling u can relax
