I cleaned the area of cord of 2 month baby with cotton wool and water, put a pinch of salt on it cleaned off any excess which was had landed on his tummy, left it for 10 minutes (just distracted him during this time) and then cleaned the salt off as best I could. I did this at approx 7 am and 7 pm. Within about 24 hours, there was a black patch on his lump, and a tiny bit of blood was dried around it, but he was perfectly happy and still couldn't feel it at all. plz suggest how many days i hc to apply salt nd is it ok treatment for my baby ..m worried

hi sonali this is normal. we do recommend salt to dry up the wet cord area.and it is expected to turn black so don't worry. do keep a check on it though if you see blood or pus then we will have to apply some antibiotic powder so you will have to show it to your pediatrician
