Iam sharing a story of a strong women who is my domestic help. Her name is Ameena. She is very chirpy and smiling all the time .she never complains do all the household chores as directed without any complains or making bad faces, unlike other maids these days who have endless list of complains and big No for anything you ask them which is against their wish or mood.i was in tears when she narrated her story .

So it goes like this one day i was asking her about her family ,she told me that she has left her husband and she is living with her mother in 'juggi'

She has two daughters one of which is married and is mother of two,as i asked her about her younger daughter tears started flowing from her eyes saying "mujhe usse milne nahi dete ,kitne saal beet gaye use dekhe ,wo mujhse phone pe bhi bat nahi karti"!!(its been years since i met her ,they dont let me meet her,she dont speak to me not even on a phone call).i was surprised so i asked her what happened why arent they letting a mother meet her own daughter?.She told me her husband was a drunkard he use to drink and beat her like animals ,didnt earned a penny .she use to work to earn her livelihood as she had two daughters to feed .Her inlaws wasnt supporting her neither financially nor emotionally,as they themselves were hand to mouth and never wanted to go against their son so , didnt worked out any solutions to the problems and all problems were left to her to overcome alone .she was enduring all sufferings because of her two daughters .

One night he came home drunk ,noone was home her daughters were gone with her grandparents to some family gatherings, she stayed back to cook for her husband,he came back drunk and asked for money to ehich she refused.she pucked up the stove and drenched her in kerosene in order to put her on fire alive .she somehow managed to flee and saved her life .

Her elder daughter came to her later on but younger one wasnt big enough to express her opinion so in-laws and husband refused to give her .

She decided to movrd to different city and earn more so that she can marry her daughter .she moved to our city and started working as domestic help ,earned enough to marry her daughter without her husband's support .

She is now working at my place but noone can make out her pain to loose her daughter who is alive ..she always puts on brave face ,always smiling ,working hard and earning her livlihood all alone all by herself without any male's support .Salute to women like her who swim against the tide ,take strong and difficult decisions and still wear a beautiful smile giving everyone a lesson life still goes on....'show must go on'.
