Indian Spices Indian Spice box is the powerhouse of immunity and health and the hidden treasure from which many of us are still obscure. We talk about supplements and super foods these days. It is not about finding something new every day and incorporating in your food. It is about going back to ancient wisdom.
When we used to heal through food and what was available to us. It is available even now. The question is what are we trying to find out, the answer is not always in the next new organic stuff and new immunity boosting concoction coming out to grab your attention. Our spices if used in the right way can help us stay strong against any virus and disease. 1. Strar anise/ chakra phool is used for fighting flu and cough. It aids in digestion and bloating. 2. Cinnamon is loaded with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.
It is known to lower blood sugar ;levels and has powerful anti-diabetic effect.
3. Panch phoron or five spices , cumin seeds, fennel seeds, Fenugreek seeds, Nigella seeds and brown mustard are used in tempering many curries. Together they are good for digestion, skin and hair, hypertension, diabetes and various types of aches. 4.Cardamom and clove,
Cardamom is used as breath freshner, aids in digestion,helps in insomnia, helps in joint pain and helps weight loss.
Clove is good for tooth ache , helps protects liver, enhances bone strength, aids in digestion and fights lung cancer too.
5.Black pepper. It is high in antioxidants,lowers cholesterol levels and has cancer fighting properties, improves blood sugar control. This is just a specimen list of varied spices from nature's abundant treasure.
Turmeric, ginger, garlic and many others are there too.
When we revisit basics we don't need to explore or venture out to find balance and support for our life and immunity.
