Kottarakkara Temple is a Shiva temple. But it is for the reputed god Ganapati. During the construction of the Shiv temple in West Pattikkara, when the daily work began, Vigneshwara was worshiped in the form of Ganapathi Kodi in the adjoining Pavin Tree. Kottarakkara is the epitome of Kathakali. Its founder was Kottarakkara Thampuran. As a memorial to him, it is a museum which depicts the history, costumes and charms of Kathakali. Kottarakkarampuran Memorial Classical Art Museum. It is located next to the Kottarakkara Temple. The main attraction of the museum is the statue of Navaras in Kathakali.
