# LONG POST #; # LESSONS FROM NEW MOM #; # TRADITIONAL DELIVERY #; # GUJJU TRADITION #; ; I'm fortunately a mom getting trained under my mom nd my mom in law.; We r been made to infact my case forced to follow few things which we feel or do not feel like but have to do it : Note I was strictly instrusted not to use my dietitian brain and follow what they say . 😏😡🤔 I did that out if respect love nd their care for me 😘😍 *Drink suuva methi (water boiled with Dill seeds and fenugreek leaves) . *;Eat methi (fenugreek) or soonth (ginger) na laadva…means ladoo; *;Eat coconut and jaggery; *I was given;raab and seero (wheat, ghee and jaggery), no outside food…trust me I my self didn't want to eat outside food nd believe me or not I had my first outside food (sev;puri) when vivu was 5 month old.; *Some foods and herbs that may help increase your milk supply and make feeding easier.; They’re called;galactagogues;example:; GARLIC : Good for digestion; MORINGA : Moringa is a traditional galactagogue typically used by new moms .; OATS: Helps in weight loss too . 😅 FRUITS: Always a healthy option breakfast or evening time.; FENUGREEK :;fenugreek seeds/leaves are rich in calcium, iron, minerals and vitamins. Consume sprouted fenugreek seeds to reduce the bitterness and increase the benefits. I ALWAYS BELIEVE 1 BITTER FOOD OR SEEDS U SHOULD CONSUME EVERYDAY .;
SESAME SEEDS : These seeds are rich in calcium and a well known galactogogue. You can eat it in laddoos (sesame and jaggery) or chutney (garlic and sesame )
COCONUT WATER :;Coconut water is richest natural source of electrolytes and can be used to prevent dehydration. It helps regulate blood pressure and lose weight. Coconut (specially the coconut oil) increases medium chain fatty acid in your body which improves the absorption of nutrients existing in the mother’s diet hence mothers milk contain more nutrient
CUMIN SEEDS:;Cumin seeds help digestion and improve immunity. They also beat the acidity and constipation. They are believed to increase the production of breast-milk. They are also a good source of iron. Use cumin seeds and roasted cumin powder in food preparation. In all most all over India, new moms are given loads of cumin and garlic in curries/ vegetable fry.
FENNEL SEEDS:;In many countries fennel is in list of galactagogue foods. Fennel seeds are commonly consumed roasted as a mouth-freshener in India. Fennel seeds are a good source of vitamin C, they help in digestion.
TULSI :It is a great herb it has many medical properties. Tulsi tea acts as a medicine on your body in common cold, cough, fever, tooth disorder, eye disorder, skin disorder and yes, it is a galactagogue too. Tulsi is a very good source of vitamin K. It helps in digestion.;
EDIBLE GUM / DINK (GONDH) All over India, lactating moms are given Edible Gum laddoos by their moms. It is known to help in the production of milk. It strengthens back bone of new mom.
MID NIGHT HUNGER:; A fruit / oats biscuits/ milk with termeric / small dry fruit ladoo . Avoid;Gassy and Difficult to Digest Food Beans like Chana/toor/(basically beans other than Moong), raw banana, meat, potatoes, fine wheat bakery products, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, peanuts, meat (you can have soup) Chilly and spices Spicy foods may upset your little one’s tummy. You may have pinch of black pepper powder. Citric fruits and vegetables For at least first few days avoid sour fruits (like lemon, raw mangoes etc.). Your baby may be absolutely fine with it but you may want to try it after first 40 days. Avoid excess oil in cooking Do not eat junk food, it will give you only unwanted fats. Use Desi Ghee which is good fats and rich in DHA. Unhealthy Habit Alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine should be avoided throughout breastfeeding period. Medicines Without Prescription For any health issue do not take any medication before consulting your doctor, not even for common cold/fever.
My understanding says : During the pregnancy, the natural balance in a woman’s body is lost, and it is in the “cold stage,” due to loss of blood during child birth. Thus, after the baby is born, you are given all foods that are warming for your body to support regaining your balance.
The oil massages for the mother and the baby are more than soothing; they are beneficial for bringing more balance in those muscles and bones that go through the traumatic experience of child birth.; Massage promotes recovery, which is much needed. Which i could do nd I still regret .; # Recipe # My; mum's special lactation mouth freshner :; Roasted;fennel, sesame, ajwain and black salt , coconut, dill seeds and almonds . 1 spoon post breakfast lunch nd dinner . Infact every time u eat something.; Plz ignore spell or punctuation error.; 😄
Hope my post helped nd don't ferget to tag fwrd nd comment.;;
