Masala Khichdi Recipe for Lunch

Ingredients

1/2 cup Rice.
2 Tablespoon Toor Dal.
2 Tablespoon Moong Dal.
1 Onion.
1/2 teaspoon Jeera.
2 cloves
a small cinnamon stick.
1/4 turmeric powder
Ghee

Method :

1. Wash and soak rice and dal in water for half an hour.
2. Drain the water.
3. In a pressure cooker, add the ghee.
4. Add jeera, cloves, cinnamon and saute for a minute.
5. Add onions and fry them till transparent.
6. Add the rice and dal and fry them for a minute.
7. Add 3 cups of water.
8. Leave 3 whistles ( 1 on high and 2 on medium).
9. After the steam settles, remove the cloves and cinnamon and mash the khichdi and feed.

Please Note: Spices like cloves can be given after 8 months if there is a family history of allergies better avoid it till 1 year. Do remember to remove these before serving your baby especially if the baby is learning to self feed.
