INFOBESITY
Have you ever come across the error- "Memory is full. Please delete
some les." Our minds should also have a similar alert system!
Today, people have become more aware & informed than before;
thanks to the technological advancement & the ease of availability
of information. Technology bears an uncanny simile time, changing
constantly, in a progression. But is the worthiness of its benet, as it
is actually meant to be, moving in the same direction? Over use of
technology has somewhere clogged our minds when there is a need
to ‘pause & ponder’.
Today, exhaustive amount of information is available of possibly
anything merely on a few clicks. Although it is up to us to decide the
relevance & the relatedness of information collected. There is a thin
line of difference between ‘what is received’ & ‘what is required’.
But this ART of being able to distinguish is somehow diminishing.
The spoon feeding has somewhat handicapped us in such a way
that we forget to use common sense in basic things! One more ip
side to this is, people confuse themselves with FACTS something
that is just another person`s OPINION. So, this overload of
information becomes misleading! More Harm Than Good!
But why just blame technology, we human beings ourselves have
been a culprit of this beguiling. Once, Lord Buddha was walking in
the woods with one of his disciple. The disciple started telling Lord
Buddha about the talks of the people talking about His virtues and
vices. The disciple was interrupted in between by Lord Buddha. He
simply asked him, "whatever information you are sharing with me,
is it USEFUL to me? Is it GOOD for me? Is it TRUE about me? The
disciple mused for a moment & answered "NO". This story preaches
- All information we get is not necessarily helpful, reliable, authentic
or a fact. The “Gossiping” that people are so used to, is a perfect
example to this. For this, there is a saying: Believe half of what you
see & nothing of what you hear. People keep absorbing everything
around them & register it for that moment, but not all of it is used.
So, at the end, it is for us to decide what is important & needed
from the baloney. Hope you can read between the lines & take the
correct amount of information out of it! (Pun intented).
