What's it like to live in this paradise!!!;
Life here is quite slow & simple. There is no hush hush like that in metro cities. Even my childhood was quite a beautiful one amidst water & plenty of coconut trees. We used to reside in outskirts, away from the capital city, Port Blair. My family & friends used to go to small islands once in a month;for picnics in dongees/dinghy. (Here we refer to small boats which fishermen use for fishing as dongees).;
The population is very less and hence there is very less pollution when compared to big cities. I think you all can guess that life here is far different from city life. We live in more of a nature bounded environment. The;sea is visible from the road at some areas.;
Coconut trees are in plenty here. You can find daab waalas everywhere on the streets.
Coming to the cuisines, we get to have;different varieties of sea food here. Apart from fish you get prawns & crab dishes also. There are various restaurants all around the city serving both veg and non veg delicacies. If you are a vegetarian you can go to pure veg outlets serving both north & south indian dishes.
The climate is;tropical. Huumidity is high because of the sea all around us. There is no particular winter season but it rains;quite often even in a hot weather. One must carry an umbrella all the time because of the uncertainty of the weather.
There are small houses mostly. No house here has more than 3 to 4 floors because of earthquake proneness.
There are;no malls and no;branded fast food chains here. There are normal cloth shops, small supermarkets, kirana stores and local bakeries.
The schools here follow CBSE board;till class 12th and the education imparted is of a decent grade. For higher education,;students mostly prefer moving out of Andamans as there are only few options to choose from here.;Recently a medical college has been set up and an engineering college already existed but it has few branches only.;There is a college for arts students as well.
In the capital city Port Blair only, we have access to these shops, main market and theatres(only 2). People who reside in outskirts have to come to Port Blair;once in a month to shop for groceries and other stuffs. Even the main Govt Hospital, Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital is in Port Blair. There are only few clinics and that's why there is too much rush;over there.
Places are so near that it hardly takes 10 to 15 mints max to go from one place to another. One could also go walking.;
The famous cellular jail is in the same campus as that of the G.B.Pant hospital and is just at 5 mints walking distance from our most beautiful;park called as Marina Park. The localites of Port Blair go for walking & hogging to this park in the evenings. There is a restaurant called light house restaurant;nearby this park which;serves very tasty sea food under reasonable price.
The internet connectivity is very bad here when compared to that in cities. We have to pay a huge amount;for a limited internet connection! Recently our access to unlimited internet has also been withdrawn.;
So, yeah you can;envy us;when it comes to living in a beautiful & peaceful environment but can be happy that at least you have got malls, multiplexes & very good internet connection in your natives. ☺;
PS: that's my husband in the pic 😊
So ladies..tell me if given a chance, would you like to leave your city life and shift to Andamans for lifetime??? If yes, why and if not, why? Be frank okay 😉
