#mommytakeover I'm back! I'm gonna talk about a topic that many moms love it and many moms hate it to the core!! What is it.... COOKING!!! Let me share my journey of cooking from maggi to full course meals....at times cooking 10 dishes during festivals. My mom hated to cook, she cooked then and even to this day because people needed to eat. But what ever she did cook was quite good...sometines basic. She also was a working woman who would finish all the cooking pack our boxes and had to leave at 8.30 everyday. Sunday of course she would make our favourite like chicken biryani, poori sagu..at times chicken burger etc. Not a single day she ever asked me to help her in cooking nor I remember doing it on my own.... ( I mean which 10 yr old would then right)! As a teenager I remember making maggi of course many of us have...who can resist maggi right. But I never cooked anything dint even know how to boil milk.
So fast fwrd I got married into a traditional telgite family...now I wouldn't say they are traditional to the core but compared to my family they were lol. And to top it all for them food is very important. I remember the day I heard my Mil telling there were almost 11 types of rasam.... I was like huh...i thought rasam was just add rasam powder in tamarind water and boil it and throw some spices in there. Now I had to master not just boiling milk but also learn these 11 rasams and loads more. Well since I was working at that time almost all cooking was done by mail and I have to tell you she's an excellent cook...like just amazing. So here I am from a family who like just cook and eat because well if they don't and this family which relishes their variety of foods and take pride in what they cook. But unfortunately I dint learn much cooking here either....! Zip fwd a bit more after we had my daughter we decided to moce out and get our space and after I set up my kitchen.... everything just sunk in.. .this is my kitchen a person who now has two people to feed and no clue what to do....! My husband said if you can't do it get a cook.. ... ( well I'm kinda stubborn and hate if someone says you can't do something especially my hubby) so challenge excepted...! It was hell because you gotta remember my mother's genes of hating cooking was taking over but I had to fight it and of course I won. How I did it well .... I think the most important part is I wanted to learn... I wanted to cook for my husband for my daughter...i learnt from my Mil that it was another way of showing how much you love and care for them. So that itself help me after slow everyday learning the basics...seeing videos on YouTube. Getting simple recipes from my Mil and mom and eventually I got here. Today I don't see cooking as a hurdle to cross everyday but a medium to express my love. And I think that is the greatest and most important thing. Who here has had a similar journey like mine? Who hates too cook and what is the main thing that makes you feel like that.. .lets share and see if we can help one another in the most hot topic among moms Why I hate Cooking or Why I love cooking??? @Priya Sood ;
