Motherhood is a beautiful journey. A journey that is once in lifetime. But during first couple of months one go through all sort of experiences. Some are good, some are bad, some are life changing and some are so common yet so ignored! I am talking about gender biasness.
In last five month I am getting some extra appreciation from some section of people as if I am achieve something extra-ordinary. The reason behind this is even more silly. I gave birth to a baby boy. All of us who became mother has gone through the same emotion, same pain, same joy, same stress. Yet some of us are getting awarded with extra care and admiration for achievement which is not ours. Are we ready to accept it!
As a society we are biased, we are partial. Whole world is talking about gender pay parity. Forget about that are we treat a mother of a baby boy and a baby girl equally? I guess we all know the answer, but we sort of ignore it. Some may argue all are not like that mind set and I agree with you. All are not like that but what about the mass.Even if an urban mother didn’t face this situation that often, don’t forget there is rural ones. Female foeticide in our country increasing day by day. According to the decennial Indian census, the sex ratio in 0 to 6 age group has risen to 108.9 in 2011
It's our fault that when a baby girl is born save for her marriage. In case of a baby boy we did the opposite, we save for his study. First we need to change that. Then all things will change automatically. Then we don't have to fight for gender equality, we don't need to campaign against pay disparity. All will fall in place.
