DISCLAIMER: This story is based on true events. The names of the characters have been changed to protect the innocent.

He was blissfully asleep when his alarm went off. Neha was screaming at the top of her voice, "Rohan, you used my comb again? You forgot to close facewash bottle again? And why are your slippers lying in the middle of nowhere, again? You are still asleep? I asked you to wake up 15 minutes ago. It's time for Ruhaan's bath already. And don't forget to make the bed, again."

Meet Rohan and Neha, parents of a happy toddler. So if you are wondering, who am I, I am the narrator of their story and yes, this is the alarm Rohan wakes up to every morning. And this is the typical start of their eventful day.

Rohan is a laid back Dad, very calm and composed and very health conscious. On the contrary, Neha is an bubbly and enthusiastic but bossy young Mom who enjoys (read, enjoyed - past tense) binging on junk food. They are quite a pair. Poles apart, but joined by their own tiny human, Ruhaan. But Neha, recently, has turned into this 'hangry' Mom. She wasn't like this from the start. She was occasionally hungry or occasionally angry, but never both. The last time she had indulged in junk food, Neha had gorged on one medium-sized pizza, one chocolava cake, one garlic bread and one coke - all by helself. Can you imagine she was eating for 3, and neither was she pregnant, nor nursing. Facepalm! Rohan recalls that Neha's hanger had started after Ruhaan was born, but of late, she has begun to feel more like perpetually hangry - hungry and angry at the same time, and all the time.

The problem is she's a Virgo, a typical one, and on top of that she is a 'she', which makes the problem at least 10 folds bigger. You might ask why is that a problem. You see, most Virgos are very methodical and orderly, and at times a critic to others and themselves alike. They have a 'rule book' of theirs and sidelining from that takes away their peace. And their little guy Ruhaan has brought Neha's world crumbling down to a topsy-turvily chaos and disarray. After all the 9 months she spent talking to the then baby bump Ruhaan (at times even plotting against Rohan) he still turned out to be a lot like Rohan in more ways than she could count. When she was having difficulty dealing with one Rohan, now there were two of them. And this total confusion was making her angry and snappy. She had become more of a freakish ticking time-bomb which could go off any minute if tampered with.

Another reason for her being angry was she wasn't able to binge and indulge in junk food which she savoured since long. While trying to conceive, she couldn't eat junk food because she wanted to conceive and was dealing with PCOS. During pregnancy, she couldn't because sje was providing nourishment to the foetus. After delivery she couldn't because she was nursing. And now? Now, because she is a parent. Facepalm! Parents to little copycats like Ruhaan should not just watch what they speak in front of them, buy also watch what they eat in front of them. Facepalm again! Being a darling husband that he is, Rohan suggested that Neha could eat junk food when she was alone. And exactly when is Neha alone? Yes, you guessed it right. It's NEVER. Facepalm yet again! And Neha is getting hungrier, angrier and hangrier day by day. And the only thing that calms her nerves is Ruhaan's toothy smiles, cuddles and kisses.

Did I tell you who used to be the boss at the beginning of the story? But who's the BOSS now? And Neha is ready to hand over the reins to the BOSS BABY. Anything for this troublemaker. And they are happily married and blissful parents plunging deeper into this bittersweet journey of parenthood. But bouts of hanger do pop up once in a while.
