Mummy!!! Maine apni maa ko nahin maara..

Since the day I came to know of her death, I could not sleep well. All the time, somewhere in my sub-conscious mind, the thoughts running about her. I came to know from one of my friends that she passed away during her second delivery. The infant could also not be saved. May be some complications were there. She has a 4 year son before that. She is(was)Deepti Khanduja. She was not my friend. I met her in the Paying Guest house when I was preparing for IELTS after my graduation. She was also preparing for the same from the same Institute but in different batch. Her room was next to me but we eat together.  On some weekend, her roommate was gone to her home and Deepti was alone. My roommate Ritu, called her to our room so that we can have food together and we offer her to sleep there only. In the midnight, she was murmuring in her sleep. My roommate and I listened carefully just to play bully and make fun of her when she will up in the morning that what she speaks in her sleep. We could not hear properly but the sentence we heard clear, made us confused. It was "Mummy...maine apni maa ko nahin maara". Me and my roommate looked at each other. Dont know why, but after a silent pause of almost one minute, we both started laughing like mad. What does this mean? Is she dreaming that type, in which the story has no leg no arm. Deepti opened her eyes listening our laughter but she slept again in few seconds. We also forget that incident after that. One other day, Me, Ritu, Akanksha(Deepti's roommate)and Deepti were having dinner. We were talking and in between Ritu ask Deepti in fun mood that "tune apni maa ko nahin maara na!!". We continued our talks without even look at Deepti. After having dinner, we used to pack our tiffins back and place outside the main door of house so that the guy who delivers the meal could collect the empty tiffin. In the stairs coming back to our room, Deepti said softly,"Maine meri maa ko nahin maara, par vo mere kaaran hi mar gai". We silently came to our room and looking at her. She continued her back story or I would say her life since her childhood, which she finished in few sentences.
Her mother was expecting her sibling when she was 3-4 years, due date almost has come. On the terrace, in the sunshine, they were sitting in fine winter afternoon. Her mother has to go down stairs for afternoon nap. She (Deepti) run before her mother to go along with her and hid behind the door of terrace to bang on her mother for fun sake. When her mother reached to the first step, Deepti banged loudly which imbalance her mother with sudden shout and she fell down in the stairs. Her mother screaming and crying aloud. Her grand mother scold Deepti for her action. She scared seeing her mother in so much pain. She did not know what had just happen in those few minutes. Neighbors took her mother to the hospital but she was already gone before reaching hospital and her sibling too.
Unknowingly, she became the reason of her mother's death. After 2 years, her father remarried. Her stepmother earlier used to be good with her but slowly she started taunting her that "tu to apni maa ko kha gai".
Coming back in Paying Guest house. We understood the whole situation, Deepti going through. Poor she is. She even speaks in her sleep the same things. Now, when I came to know about Deepti's death, it seems the history repeats itself in her life. I dont know what were the reason of her complications in delivery? The thing which is bothering me that she has left her 4 year son behind her. Sooner or later, her husband would remarry. Does her son also has to bear the taunts which she used to. Will her son also murmuring in his sleeps that "Mummy... maine apni maa ko nahi maara".....
