My husband was Covid +ve in Jan and currently, two members of my family are going through it. The threat of covid is very real. There’s too much negativity, pain and suffering around us.

But parenting doesn’t stop.

Keeping it simple today by sharing what we’ve been doing to stay positive for our child, who has been living in a world with covid ever since she was 4 months old -

1. Positive affirmations - I whisper positive statements in her ears multiple times during the day such as - Thank you universe for keeping us safe, we are healthy, we are doing great, we are happy

2 . A consistent routine/rhythm - We more or less follow a rhythm that works well, especially during a lockdown. Predictability reduces stress in toddlers & also adults

3. Singing - We usually sing a lot, you’ll know that, but now we’ve been a little extra, simply because it lifts my spirits high & it rubs off on her too

4. Smelling flowers - We do this a lot because the way she sniffs is adorable, but also because it really does calm the senses

5. Physical activity - apart from jumping and climbing all day, we’ve been doing a lot of dancing these days, it works & how!

6. Self-care - From long baths to spending considerable time in front of the mirror, rubbing in that face cream is our daily ritual to ensure physical self-care. We also kiss ourselves in the mirror once done. Will share a video one of these days if I manage to catch Baby AS in action :)

7. Reading - we are lost without books in a normal day so needless to say, during a pandemic, we’ve been reading a lot

8. Being kind & empathetic - forgiving Baby AS on days she drove me crazy, forgiving other caregivers who are in fact doing their best, but might not be taking care of our children the way we want them to, forgiving myself on days when I felt like a total failure, is something I am trying to do

It might take a while, but the truth is - this too shall pass. Till then, let’s hang in there together

Please #save and #share if you enjoyed reading this, might bring a smile on someone else’s face too. :)
