Dear Divya Different children acquire milestones at different ages. It is observed that girls tend to start speaking earlier than boys. You may gently encourage ur son to voice out sounds and then string those sounds into words. Start with easier words in the beginning and u can use words that are highly motivating like his favorite toys, food items, TV shows, games etc. I would suggest u visit a developmental pediatrician in case ur son doesn't speak even after he turns 2.5 yrs. If your child understands and follows instructions then there is no cause for concern. Speak a lot around the child, read to the child and also describe things like scenes, people, animals etc that you see when you are with your child.
