If there is cervical incompetence then it's best to opt for the cerclage which is stitches placed in the cervix to hold it closed. The doctor may also prescribe some medications which will help control the pre term contractions. It is best to rest as much as possible and in a lying down position as this will put less pressure on the cervix.
