Karva Chauth during Pregnancy : Dos n Donts -

Karva Chauth is a one-day festival celebrated by Hindu Married Women on fourth day of waning moon after purnima in the month of kartika. It is done for the long and healthy life of the husband .

The festival is celebrated with great fanfare with Jewellery and Bridal Sarees , Bangles and Mehendi . Fasting for the whole day that is before sun rise up till moon rise is done .

Are pregnant Women /breastfeeding moms supposed to Fast for the entire day ??
A big NO to this , Love , respect and Prayers will never decrease if you do not keep fast for the entire day as there is a valid reason for this . You have a baby inside you to be taken care of and thats the most important duty right now .

What you can eat to keep yourself hydrated and nourished ?
You can always keep the puja and pray and do all rituals but keep taking small meals which consists of fruits, milk , nuts, Sabu Dana , Pooris made up of Kuttu ka atta which can be used during Fast. These things are supposed to be acceptable during any fast and also will keep your body energized.
Keep drinking water and juices in regular intervals . Cut fruits like watermelons are quite filling too . Banana milkshake with nuts make a great meal .
Makeup and Dressing ??
Yes you can get ready with herbal products and avoid bleaching and waxing with chemical products .
Anyways you always have that special pregnancy Glow :-) so don't worry about make up !!
You can apply Mehendi on your hands . Be comfortable while dressing up .
Avoid heavy Sarees and Jewellery that can cause irritation and itching and make you uncomfortable . You can wear light comfortable little loose clothing and light weight Jewellery in the evening .

Do not forget to take small Naps intermittently and remember this Karwa Chauth is special as you are a Mom to be !!

Note : Any special condition like gestational diabetes or high blood pressure and hypertension etc please consult your doctor before keeping the fast .
