#nutritionweek#nutritiontips I used to completely hate this job of visiting the market and buying vegetables. But the more conscious I became about health, I wanted to do it myself. Not that I enjoy doing it still, but I like the conversations with fruit & vegetable vendors -
"where do these come from?"
"Is this desi or hybrid?" Also now some of them know that I am into gardening- they give me a potato or beetroot that is sprouting or a bag of vegetable waste for my compost pit. And once this relationship thickens, they also tell me honestly if something is fresh or stale. Something is local or from abroad. At least, I don't like picking up vegetables and fruits from the super market or mall anymore! Who goes shopping for fresh ingredients in your house? Where do you usually shop? What's growing in your part of the country this season? For example - I never buy cauliflower, cabbage, peas beans in summer (the way it was in our childhood). Gourds, pumpkin, lady's finger, yam, arbi etc are in great shape nowadays!
