Mouthing helps babies learn all about different shapes and textures.

So in order to satisfy their curiosity and explore the object in hand, they use tongue instead of fingers. Moreover, their tongues are super sensitive with numerous nerve endings – so, putting something inside the mouth is the easiest way babies can;“feel”;the texture of anything.

Now..mouthing is a good experience for your baby but they may end up getting choked.

One easy way to check this is to make sure a toy or object are big enough.

Also, be sure that an object is smooth enough not to scratch your child and doesn't have pieces that can break off.

It's not just about choking. Kids can also ingest something poisonous. Do try to have minimal things around your kid.Take a few moments to do an inspection of your home at your child's eye level to identify any unsafe objects he may be tempted to put in his mouth.
