Stretch marks? I call them ‘Tiger Stripes’
.
.
Due to ever changing bodies especially during pregnancy..we do not appreciate what it is doing for us. We only see scars, loose skin and not a beautiful body that has done and still doing so much for us. A woman goes through hormonal, mental and physical changes during pregnancy. It is obvious that she will become a different person now..she won’t be the same anymore..she’ll be called as ‘mom’..
.
.
Two most important aspects of my body after becoming a mom are stretch marks and c section scar. It keeps me reminding of a battle I fought to bring my little girl to life. I wear them with pride and am not ashamed or feel belittle of having them. I see them more as ‘tiger stripes’...it made me realise what a woman’s body is capable of. Even after applying all the lotions and creams to get over it..they still won’t leave us and I feel they shouldn’t because they are there..so are our kids..do you feel the same?
.
.
I read it somewhere..where a child asked her mother about the stretch marks, mother replied so beautifully to him.She told him..’when you were inside me my child..you drew those beautiful lines(stretch marks) to keep as a memory forever’ and the child smiled.
.
.
When Simra grows up I’ll tell her about my stretch marks, scars and loose skin. I also want to tell all the mommies out there..do not feel bad about our bodies. Accept the changes it has brought...your stretch marks aren’t just marks they made you a mom..yes a mother..be proud of what your body did for you!
.
.
Love your stretch marks...love your body..
