The act of speaking is a motor action, and speaking is a form of movement! This was the most important thing I took away from PROMPT When watching the child's mouth, tongue, and lips move when speaking, you could tell how impaired his motor system was. His sounds were acoustically fine, but you could see how he was unable to move his jaw, lips, and tongue. It helped me understand WHY some of the errors in his speech are caused by his disordered jaw, lips, and tongue. Based on my observations, I came up with a treatment plan to address the motor breakdowns. Any PROMPT questions?
