These are the buds of a beautiful flower called 'Parijat', typical of autumn and the upcoming festive season. It's smell is something to die for! We also call it 'shiuli' in Bengali. This tree is super special for 2 reasons- 1. Even these buds transport me straight to Durga Pooja, as we celebrated in my childhood. We would shake the tree and all its flowers will gather on the ground. We picked them and made Garlands or just spent hours picking them cherishing it's smell! 2. When I planted this tree in my building premises in my Mumbai, it didn't blossom for 4 years, which is super rare for this tree! People told me all sorts of negative things possible as to why it wouldn't blossom. I just knew it us trying to adapt to the layers of concrete and stone below and once it's roots reach the depth of soil below, it will blossom. Last year, it proved me true! This year, the buds have come out even before Monsoons are fully gone! Do you know of this tree? They may be called differently in different parts of the country but have a name for sure 😊 What are the other signs of autumn in your parts of the country? 2.

That's awesome! Perfect timing...Durga Puja is coming too! They are the signals for Sharadotsav, they say in Eastern India!
