#tipathon I have always associated the smell and taste of peppermint with the chewing gums and candies I used to chew and suckle on during my childhood but recently when I was having a severe headache, my mom applied a very small amount of peppermint oil on my brow and it gave a great relief. Peppermint is known for it's unique smell and cooling properties. It's oil has amazing uses and benefits specially in summers. Good quality Peppermint oil is quite expensive like 30-40 ml is available for about Rs. 50.. I usually buy it from an old ayurvedic shop in my home town and it lasts for an year. It is also available online. I use this oil in following ways: 1. Peppermint oil is a natural pain killer. When applied in little amount and rubbed a little, it can ease headaches, joint aches, sore and paining muscles. Even people who have arthritis can rub it a little on their knees or joints. It acts as a natural balm. 2. This oil gives great relief in sinus. Just mixing 1-2 drops of it in hot water and taking steam with it gives great relief and opens the blocked nose and passage. 3. This oil also acts as a good mouth wash. Adding few drops of it in water and gargling with it reduces bad mouth odour. 4. Good quality peppermint oil is very effective so just adding 1 drop of it in your bathing water in summers can keep you fresh and cool for many hours. Adding too much oil in water can lead to cold. 5. Peppermint oil is a natural mood lifter. People who face depression or feel low can apply it a little in between the chest area. It gives an uplifting effect. 6. Peppermint oil is also helpful in giving relief in nausea. Putting few drops n a hankerchief and smelling it gives relief. 7. Peppermint oil is also useful in sunburn.; Mixture of few drops of this oil in coconut oil can make a natural moisturizing lotion which can be applied to reduce tanning. I have found this oil very useful. Keeping even a small amount at home has helped me a lot at various times. So, I am recommending it to everyone.
