Toddler tantrums – Familiar term for every parent!
.
.
What are generally tantrums in toddlers?Tantrums are usually ranging from crying to screaming on top of the voice, hitting, and holding a breath etc. They’re equally common in boys and girls and usually happen between the ages of 1 to 3. Tantrums are normal part of child development, some have it usually while others have them rarely.
.
.
Tantrums in toddlers usually occur due to not understanding emotions such as anger, wanting something, feeling sad, sleepy, hunger etc. When they aren’t really into explaining their emotions they tend to lose their cool and try to explain in a way that’s impossible for we as parents to understand. That’s when irritability rushes in, we take it in a negative way and sometimes couldn’t take it. So it becomes a mess!
.
.
Some unsolicited advice from a mum who has tried everything & results were quite positive:
-You need to be very consistent and establish a daily routine so that your child knows what to expect at that particular time.
-Try doing all the household chores when the baby isn’t hungry or tired.
-Encourage your child to talk and express how she is feeling!
-Allow her to make choices. (for example, you can have a cookie after you’re done with lunch)
-Appreciation is a key (praise everything they do, little achievements are bigger stones of success)
-Making sure your child is well-rested and not unduly stressed can prevent many tantrums.
-Stay calm as much as possible, try distraction, humor can be a great idea too!
-Don’t give in to demands (this will keep continuing and can be a issue unsolvable)
-Try undo frustration!
.
.
I know as a parent it’s tough handling this phase but trust me am surviving, so will you!
