Travelling Snacks with Traveling kids

🎁

One thing which I always keep in mind is to carry sufficient munching healthy snacks for my kids

🎁

Why to carry❓

BE PREPARED

🍘 This avoid unnecessary eating of packed/junk outside food

🍘Both of my kids are Self-feeding & Screen-free kids, so good time pass during travels { it works a lot}

🍘Not everytime kids are in the mood to eat food along with you, so snacks acts as a saviour.

🍘Fully content kids means happy kids during travelling

SNACKS LIST
#savethis

Following are the snacks which I have introduced to my kids at an early age, so they relish it to the fullest. Earlier the better.

*Homemade*

🍘Roasted Makhanas

🍘Murmure ( riced puffs) - Already had a post on it. Give it a read

🍘Apples - cut as desired

🍘Grapes ( half cut for baby kri in separate small box)

🍘 Pomegranate for kids

🍘Oranges

🍘Bananas - In mumbai we get elaichi (small) bananas, easy to eat and takeaways.

🍘 Strawberries - seasonal

🍘 Idlis - You can use MTR rawa or plain idlis mix. Always available in my fridge.

🍘Steamed baby corns - cut it into finger sized halves for babies

🍘 Sprouts - Bhigao it , Ugaao it and take it, no add ons.

🍘Sweet corns- Frozen one, boil the sweet corns and take it , no add ons.

*Packed*

🍘Yellow Chana

🍘Amul Masti Buttetmilk - Taazgi it gives and better than any packed juices

🍘Dry fruits - Soacked almonds, raisins & cashews as it is

🍘Parle-G buicuits - This is always the last option when we are left with nothing and difficult to locate a food stop, which rarely happens.

We have hardly tried any other buicuits/ cookies with kids as these parleG can be good powehouse of energy for kids when in need.

How to plan?
#readthis

👉If you ask me what are the first foods I introduced to my both babies, the answer will be FRUITS {look my earlier posts for the proof}

👉Trust me, fruits are the items which are easily available anywhere anytime , just carry a knife along with you.

👉All above foods are finger sized fruits , so can be easily started at 6months+
#encouragingselffeeding

👉Superb easy to carry finger foods than to carry khichdi/ dalia/ suiji - I had never carried all these in my 4 yrs of mommyhood.

👉 Encourage Idlis / Dosas / Eggs for the kids - These are the food items which can be available easily anywhere in India.

👉We always carry full apples, oranges, pomegranate, grapes and off course a knife with us whenever we are going on 2-3 days of vacation.

Above mentioned dry snacks can also carried in sufficient quantity for the stay.

👉For longer vacation , just carry the above listed items for the journey part and then you can always buy fruits locally there or can be available in hotels as well.

👉So If we have to leave early morning, I do all the preparation a night before and pack it.

For apples, grapes - can be cut in the morning itself.

Pomegranate too i cut and store it in fridge a night before.

Idlis can also be made a day before, refrigerate it , microwave it next day and pack it.

👉You can take each snacks in a separate storage box you have. Preparation can be done a night before.

👉 Avoid carrying wafers/chips/chocolates/ juices to satisfy kid's hunger. Don't give them options. Tell them healthy are the only bites I have , Eat it or Leave it.

🎁

Let me know in comments if you have any other healthy snack option to travel with.

Also share it with other fellow moms for whom this can be helpful

🎁

Disclaimer: This doesn't mean Ka don't relish other packed foods, its just the best we can do to avoid unnecessary unhealthy intake
