TWO GOOD REASONS TO KEEP HONEY AWAY FROM YOUR CHILD
In connection with the baby food week, one of the doubts that came up was about honey.
Why should I not use honey to sweeten food for my lovely baby, many women have asked.
There are two important reason why you should not use honey in children’s food.
1) Honey contain spores of a live bacteria called clostridium botulinum which when consumed by people with weak or undeveloped systems (babies), can cause weakness, mobilization, swollen body and even death.
It is therefore advised not to introduce honey for children under 1 year for this reason.
Fun fact: Did you know that Botox is mad of the nerve disturbing compound, botilinum?
2) Honey is in fact the natural product that is highest in fructose. It is for this reason I recommend no honey for children under the age of 2-3 years.
The human body has no degrading system for fructose, that’s why it’s quickly taken to the liver for detoxification before it gets any chance to poison the body.
Fructose effect on kids liver is like drinking alcohol, just without the buzz part.
That’s why many children are ending up with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, a condition similar to alcoholic fatty-liver disease.
I hope this is a friendly caution not meant to scare anyone.
