What's in a baby's name?

We all are so particular about baby names and we want to ensure we think through them before we finally decide on one. For some it is a easy smooth journey where it is just the 2 of you deciding the names and in a few cases the entire khadaan gets involved! God save them! :) haha just in jest.

Which were some of those 2nd and 3rd most preferred names that you rejected for that one most prized name you decided upon?

At my mother's we have to give baby five names in which one should b accirding to zodiac. My hubby suggested Manas or Manav as someone said m is powerful letter.but I alws wanted his name shud b related wid god n shud be unique.his janmakshar was 'se' a difficult to find out name , didn't wanted sevakram; or sevalal. And one more imp thing he born on kartiki ekadashi the day when lord Vishnu wake ups from his 4 months sleep.but it is common. So here are the five names...sehaj, Kartik,Manas, kausthubh,shreemay. I decided shreemay means occupied by glory of God. <br> We call him as Shree.

ohh lovely thread.in our case when my pregnancy got confirmed I asked my hubby to decide on one baby boy and one baby girl name as I am busy carrying the lil one inside. he came up with Vani in case it's gal.vansh in case its boy.both the names have letters of our names.But when the lil one came his Rashi name has to be with N.So hundreds of suggestions started coming.But thanks to hubby he sticked on to his decision irrespective of whatevr family says&nbsp; and we have our Vansh from paVANSonia.&#128522;

You might find this story of name keeping funny. I badly wanted a daughter. So badly that we had decided on her name long before we got married. The name was Anwesha ( An from Anubhuti & Sh from Ratnesh ). It was after I conceived we stated thinking about a boy's name. My hubby is an action movie lover and wanted heavy name. He always ended up giving names like Rudraksh, Pratap etc. I wasn't convinced. I wanted a name which had alphabets from our name, just as we thought about Anwesha. We decided upon the name Ansh ( An from Anubhuti & Sh from Ratnesh ). But elders wanted the name to be according to the Zodiac. Finally a cute lil boy was in my arms . His name was supposed to be with D . I was so disheartened as we could not keep his name as Ansh. But then it striked to my husband that we can have Anshu as his nickname and opt from a name from Devansh (part of God/Gift of God) or Divyansh (part of light) Finally our friend , who is a numerologist , suggested Devansh to be a better option with a double AA. So we have our cutie bundle of joy Devaansh spreading happiness with his smile. We call him Ansh, Anshu , Anshili and what all not at home. So our Ansh remains with his name ...forever :)
