do not make a habit of rocking and swinging. what i do with my baby is to let him run around and get tired, then he sleeps by himself. but this might work only around 1 year. before that an overtired baby is difficult to put to sleep. you can sing to baby, and also pat... do not give baby motions(movements) while baby is sleeping. stop any movements as soon as baby is on the verge of falling asleep
