When I joined social media last year in August, I was so vulnerable to frequent anxiety attacks, to feeling depressed, and my physical health and immune system was at an all-time low so much so that the head nurse who first noticed my excessive abnormal bleeding (postpartum hemorrhage) after delivery, told me that, “If you get infected with corona, your survival will be difficult, so don’t step out except for medical reasons”.
I delivered my son in March 2020, but I still haven’t recovered fully! I literally try every day to just be happy and attract positivity, because I’m still so prone to being anxious & depressed again!
Since the beginning of my social media journey, I have spoken to moms who survived... family members of moms who lost the battle and the moms who survived but lost their babies....and it’s so overwhelming!
And when people term this fatal disease as morning sickness, they fail to understand how damaging Hyperemesis Gravidarum is to a woman’s mental, emotional and physical health!
After delivery, I was talking to a physician and I told him about this disease and he actually went ahead and told me the meaning of “HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM” — vomiting during pregnancy and that so many women have it and it’s like morning sickness!
I felt like punching his face... 👊🏻
And there are so many like this physician... luckily my gynaecologist understood and addressed my problems but there are women who ain’t lucky, some women whose family members don’t understand and extend their support... and this is why creating awareness of this disease is so important!
People fail to understand this may be because they never come across women diagnosed with HG but the fact is that —
Hyperemesis Gravidarum is life-threatening for both the mother and baby and can alter the affected woman’s life —mentally, emotionally and physically for years...!
Nirvaan is a year old, but It still feels nothing less than a miracle every time I hold him!! ❤️
