When we are under a lockdown, most of our on-going schedules have been stalled. The world has become a difficult place to live in right now. Everyone is locked up at home and the animals are roaming around free. It’s important to take good care of skin. Its impossible to visit a salon or parlour. Let’s discuss some useful hacks amid the Coronavirus lockdown. We all are thinking of ways to kill boredom and maintain ourselves.

To uplift our mood quite instantly, the simplest thing we can do is look after ourselves inspite of being overburdened with household works. Let's start with good skin and hair care.

We are aware that skin and hair also take a beating due to decreased physical activity. The body is energised by getting out of the house and indulging in physical activities, and that's how the metabolism also remains good. Tension, lockdown, overburdened household works takes toll on skin & hair.

With the help of natural ingredients for skin care, we will maintain it. We can use these even while doing our day to day work.

Skin Care

We will take tomato, cucumber, mint and potato. Wash all these properly. Grind them in mixture grinder with rose water. We can can turn it into a cold face pack by putting the mixture into an ice tray. In morning we can apply this on face, let it dry and then wash it. A tray will easily last for a week. This will keep the skin glowing.

For dead skin we can semolina, besan , bran , almond powder, kesar and dried mint. Semolina will be half of besan. Grind it into fine powder. Keep it in freezer. If you don’t have mint powder, then can dry it in oven & can easily be crushed & used. Can add dried rose powder too. If oily skin then use this mixture with rose water otherwise can use it with curd or milk. Apply this pack on your entire body before taking a bath and just scrub it all the way before washing it off. This pack will not only improve your blood circulation, but also remove the dead skin.

Applying lemon juice (diluted) on face with a cotton ball. Lemon juice not only acts as a toner but gives all the benefits of a Vitamin c serum. As lemon is acidic, it can irritate sensitive skin. It's best to do a patch test before applying the juice. Can add rose water with lemon juice. Even tomato juice in diluted form can be applied. Both has bleaching agents.

We can make powder of Multani mitti, Chandan powder, almond powder, kesar. Keep this mixture in freezer. Can be used as face mask. Powder can be mixed with rose water or milk or curd as per skin.

One can also make a face mask by mixing 1 teaspoon plain yoghurt with the juice from 1/4 slice of orange, some of the orange pulp, and 1 teaspoon alovera gel. Leave the mixture on face for at least five minutes before rinsing it off.

Skin care steps are

Step 1: Cleanse.

Step 2: Toner.Cucumber water is best. Try using alcohol free products.

Step 4: Eye cream.

Step 5: Moisturizer. The final step and the thickest cream to seal everything in. Apply all over your face and neck.

Hair care

Now that we are at home, our hair is less exposed to outside impurities like dust and pollution which damages our hair. Hence treating ourselves with a hair mask is a perfect self-care tip. Treat tresses of our hair with our favourite face mask which will help to strengthen our mane strand by strand.

Hair masks can be made at home We can apply hair mask & complete our work at same time. Thereafter we can wash our hair. It will prevent hair fall , give smooth hair.

We can mix coconut oil, Shea butter, Argan oil, and preferred essential oils. The combination of these ingredients will deeply moisturize hair leaving it silky smooth.

We can form mask by making paste of fenugreek seeds soaked overnight and curd. Add coconut oil. Apply this mask. Leave it for 40-60 minutes. Regular use of this pack can help to improve hair and scalp health.

Rice has been used as a beauty treatment by Japanese women for thousands of years. Inositol found in this water can repair damaged hair. It can be used as a hair rinse, which will help to strengthen hair.

Foot scrub

Dead or loose skin can be formed on our feet because of lack of moisture. Quarantine time is the best time to get rid of all the impurities that have been built on our feet. All we have to do is regularly exfoliate and use a food scrub.

We can make a foot scrub at home by combining sugar or brown sugar, coffee and almond oil in a bowl. Add oil slowly until we have a soft, wet-sand consistency. We canuse lemon essential oil or lavender oil or any other preferred and work into feet for five minutes before rinsing away in the shower.

Nail Art

We can try out new and creative art on our nail which can include, doodle art, sequential nail art, floral nail art, and more.

Eyebrow tweezers

Eyebrow tweezers sometimes come free with many eyebrow colouring pellets. If we have one, we can easily pluck out the extras grown on our brows, upper lips and chin.

So let’s pamper ourselves in this Quarantine period. Best way to rejuvenate & relax.
